The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation to help improve and address the conditions of correction and rehabilitation institutions, contribute to raising performance levels in these institutions, and positively impact the situation of prisoners. It also aimed at aligning these institutions with international human rights standards, the Mandela Rules for the treatment of prisoners, and Law No. (5) of 2005 regarding correction and rehabilitation institutions.

The Institution’s team affirmed their full support for the efforts and reformist vision of the Head of the Authority in improving and addressing the performance of the Authority and correctional institutions, and in developing its functions in line with its mandate. This is in view of the Authority’s work being closely connected to the judicial system and human rights.

The team also stressed the importance of unifying and intensifying the efforts of all concerned and relevant parties to support the Authority, respect its independence, and ensure its work in an environment free of challenges, obstacles, and interference in its affairs and functions.
